In Australia, GGHH member, the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) developed a sustainability plan to provide a solid platform for implementing sustainable and climate-resilient health care practices now and well into the future.

In South Africa, Pholosong Hospital, a member of the GGHH network, worked with staff and patients to put in place an on-site garden to provide vegetables for the hospital kitchen and patient families along with creating opportunities for education and training for the community.

On December 1 and 2, the 4th Global Green and Healthy Hospitals Latin American Conference: Driving change for a healthy and sustainable recovery took place.

On October 27 GGHH launched its Chemicals guidance document, an exciting new resource exclusive for the members of the network. Developed by sustainability experts, this guide is designed to support health care institutions in addressing the most pressing challenges they face related to hazardous chemical use.

October is a particularly special month for GGHH this year – it’s our 10th anniversary! In 2011, Health Care Without Harm launched GGHH with the ambition that it would grow into a powerful global network supporting institutions in their transformation to sustainable, climate-smart health care.

The World Health Organization (WHO) highlighted the climate and health work of two GGHH members from Latin America: the San Rafael de Pasto hospital, Colombia, and the Valdivia Health Service, Chile.

Health Care Without Harm and Global Green and Healthy Hospitals present Climate Impact Checkup, a unique tool developed for any health care facility in the world to calculate and track GHG emissions.

On May 26 Health Care Without Harm officially launched Race to Zero for the health sector and announced the nearly 40 health care institutions in six continents, who are its founding members.
