On April 29, 2025, “One Health” was presented, showcasing the work of Health Care Without Harm and its Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network through the leadership of an environmental manager and a pathologist from the Fundación Valle del Lili, in Colombia.
Directed by filmmaker Pablo Mejía Trujillo, this 12-minute documentary highlights how the solutions implemented at this Colombian hospital, with the support of Health Care Without Harm and Global Green and Healthy Hospitals, are driving the sector's transformation at the local level and contributing to building a world where healing people doesn't mean making the planet sick.
“Every person, every health care professional, has transformative potential,” says Carolina Gil Posse, Director of Programs and Communications for Latin America, Health Care Without Harm, who participated in the premiere. “It is possible to face challenges collectively, to learn from others who have taken the same path," added Gil Posse, who called on to join the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals network, watch the documentary, and "reflect on what we can do in our communities, in our spheres of influence.”
"In hospitals, we don't just save lives; we also save rivers and protect the air... We can change the story we're living today. We can be agents of change, and that purpose can be collective. These networking strategies make us stronger; if we fall, there's a net that supports us," says Mónica Castaño Tovar, the documentary's protagonist and coordinator of environmental management and sanitation at Fundación Valle del Lili.
In turn, Ludwig Albornoz, head of Pathology at Fundación Valle del Lili, called to join the transformation of the health sector “with awareness and science.”
"Those of us who work for the environment are working to protect life," adds Claudia Lorena Paz Giraldo, Technical Projects Facilitator for Latin America, Health Care Without Harm, and one of the protagonists of the documentary.
Director Pablo Mejía Trujillo; Gabriel Diamond, executive producer of the Skoll Foundation: and Andrea Arauz, production coordinator of Video Consortium, also attended the premiere.
"One Health" is part of the second season of Solutions Inside Out, a documentary series about social innovators catalyzing positive change. This year, the series focuses on Latin America. It is part of the Solutions Storytelling Project, an initiative of the Video Consortium supported by the Skoll Foundation.
